RATIONALE FOR SELECTING MONGOLIA AS THE PILOT NATION
- After an initial surge of Christianity in the 1990's when the country became a democracy, growth in Christianity has substantially slowed.
- The number of Gospel poor is growing and is currently estimated to be 51% of the population. (Source: Center for the study of Global Christianity)
- Out of a total population of 3.2M, only 2% are Christians; and Buddhists, Muslims, Ethnoreligionists, and Nonreligionists all outnumber Christians.
- Mongolian Christian leaders have been praying for a renewed movement of the Gospel across their nation and have a vision for ending Gospel poverty.
PILOT OBJECTIVE
Implement a successful pilot of the Accelerate Ending Gospel Poverty business case model and approach in Mongolia. Expand implementation of the model and approach, with key learnings from the pilot, to other nations as soon as possible. The pilot is “successful” when the number of people living in Gospel poverty in Mongolia is reduced and on a downward trajectory to be zero.
